Once it is modelled, you're no longer paying the 3d artist, and you have a license to print money. Most 3d studios will let you spit out something of similar quality in a couple of hours.

Selling something cheaply when there is enough demand for it is always more profitable then selling thing for massive sums of money. As this will dampen the demand until only a few exceptions will pay for it. I would say, before the prices of these items became known, there was sufficient demand for it, I think CCP have cost themselves quite a bit of money by pricing them so high.

Quite frankly, where is doctor Eog when CCP needs him. Isn't he an economist.
